Eernegem Belgium March 2008

I live with them now, in a little trailer next to the horse stalls.  This is Belgium, the town is small, only a few hundred people and its own brewery.  At night at the kitchen table, in their home we share food and thought.  I met Yvette and Rita just north of the Sahara desert in Tunisia, I was hitchhiking my way north to the oasis that waited there.  I was sick and they picked me up, a mom and a nurse.  We spent a week together, until they had to fly back home to Belgium.  “It’s not ‘goodbye’, it’s ‘see you later’” we said.  Two years later they flew to San Francisco where we once again laughed in the familiar way.  A year after that, I was living with them on the farm.  I was in need, and they where there with love and filling those places that we hold, waiting for each other to share in.
